Mike Federer

Mike Federer founded the family business DEPOT Hauswaren AG in 1996. The Zurich-based business - now THE BATH SHOP AG - specialises in traditional, high-quality products for the bathroom. Over the years, more and more interior design mandates have been added to the core business. The timeless, classic style has always been retained, while the expertise has constantly evolved.

Wassily Federer

In 2017, their son, Wassily Federer, joins the family business. In 2020, Mike and Wassily Federer take over the distribution of LACANCHE for the whole of Switzerland, as well as the new shop on Pfalzgasse in Zurich's Old Town.

1996

Right from the start, we were able to work with many small companies that produced products using original historical moulds and handcrafted methods. Unfortunately, over time, some suppliers ceased operations, while others changed their product range or relocated their production outside Europe.

In order to realise our own vision of products - which were unfortunately not available on the market - we started to have washbasins, taps, accessories, toilets and much more manufactured to our own design. Since then, attention to detail and quality thinking have been at the forefront of all developments.

We work together with well-known manufacturers in England, France and Italy. All items are produced in the respective countries under fair conditions and in accordance with European standards.

2020

The LACANCHE brand has been a household name in Switzerland since the 1990s. Until now, a friend and long-standing business partner, Matériaux d'Execption or Lacanche Fourneaux de France Sàrl, has been distributing the high-quality brand in French-speaking Switzerland. Due to his age, he would like to slowly discontinue the business and is looking for a successor.

By chance, the shop next to our main shop becomes vacant at the same time. As we are no strangers to the kitchen sector and have already realised various interior design projects, we take the plunge and successfully take over the business.

In addition to the renowned LACANCHE brand, the newly established THE HOUSE SHOP also offers various other products. We also take on kitchen planning and other interior design projects.

After lengthy renovation work and some challenges due to the pandemic, we will be able to open the new shop on 31 March 2022.

It is very important to us that our products are installed by qualified specialists. Your installer ensures that all connections and pipework are laid correctly and that our products function perfectly. That's why we supply and invoice through the installer. However, you can also order simple items such as soap dishes or towel rails directly from us.
